Hepatitis A, IgM antibodies Test

The IgM antibodies of the Hepatitis A virus are analyzed when somebody’s immunity is to be assessed or in order to confirm that an infection has recently occurred.

Low values causes
  • Inconclusive or zero results for the IgM antibodies of Hepatitis A
  • Indicates that a person is not immunized
High values causes

  • Confirms a recent immunity or infection

A blood test required first to confirm the presence of antibodies against Hepatitis A. One can be infected with the Hepatitis A virus from food, water or by an infected person. Vaccination remains the best means of prevention against this viral hepatic infection (the HavrixMD vaccine).
