A virus belonging to the family of retroviruses, which are capable of eliciting modifications within the cells. The human immuno-deficiency virus also belongs to the retrovirus family. HTLV and HIV thus have a bond in common.

This virus is known as The Human T-Cells Leucemia Lymphocyts Virus. The negative effects of this virus are noted particularily in Africa, Japan and the Caribbean.

The HTLV virus is transmitted by sexual intercourse, by unsanitary materials, such as the syringes used by the drug-addicted people, as well as by blood transfusions.
