Occulte Blood Test

Description
Undetectable to the naked eye. Its presence in an abnormal amount gives rise to such diagnoses as diverticulitis, hemorroids, intestinal inflammatory diseases, polyps, colorectal problems and intestinal cancer.

Notes

A less invasive test than the colonoscopy. Certain foods should be avoided prior to the test (red meat, turnips, horseradish, beetroot). It should be repeated for 3 consecutive days. The nurse will provide instructions as to the feces collection and to the appropriate containers. Please advise her whether you are anticoagulated.
