Occulte Blood Test
Undetectable to the naked eye. Its presence in an abnormal amount gives rise to such diagnoses as diverticulitis, hemorroids, intestinal inflammatory diseases, polyps, colorectal problems and intestinal cancer.
No fasting needed prior to be subjected to blood sampling at home.
- Violent physical activity
- Certain foods and drugs
- Surgery or recent dental surgery
A less invasive test than the colonoscopy. Certain foods should be avoided prior to the test (red meat, turnips, horseradish, beetroot). It should be repeated for 3 consecutive days. The nurse will provide instructions as to the feces collection and to the appropriate containers. Please advise her whether you are anticoagulated.
