Oral Glucose Tolerance Test (OGTT)
Oral Glucose Tolerance Test (OGTT) Test
Measures the amount of sugar in the blood (glycemia). An examination required in case diabetes is suspected. Helps diagnosing gestational diabetes in pregnant women (between the 24th and the 28th week of pregnancy).
Upon the very first visit, this medical test is performed after a 12 hour fasting. If the glucose result under fasting conditions is outside the normal values, then the physician may prescribe a simplified one-hour oral glucose tolerance test, which does not call for any fasting, or a 2-hour test, provided a 12-hour prior fasting has been observed.
- Gestational diabetes
- Intolerance to glucose
Please comply with the sampling nurse’s instructions before taking the test.
