In case of allergy, the immune system of an affected person reacts to an unknown substance termed ‘allergen’, by developing antibodies called specific IgE-type immuno globulins. This is a self-defense reaction by the immune system.

The anaphylactic shock is a very serious reaction, during which the respiratory pathways get obstructed and hinder the affected person’s breathing. There can also come up heartbeat increase and arterial pressure drop.

An allergy can have eating, breathing or environmental origins. The allergic persons thus develop specific IgE antibodies in their body, which can be traced by a blood test.

According to several studies, a serious allergic reaction originated in food is rarer.
